Candolim beach. It is located on the Chorao Island. Inside the sanctuary you will find quaint little villas and houses which are all made in typical Portuguese style and are all decorated with white wash. The sanctuary is spread over an area of around 2 square kms. It houses a lot of birds such as kingfishers, herons and egrets. There is a huge mangrove and apart from that there are other animals such as jackals and crocodiles which can also be found at the sanctuary. There is also a network of a river and many other mini rivers on which this mangrove
survives. The best few months to visit the Dr. Salim Ali Bird Sanctuary are February, October, November and December.  The weather is perfect during these months. The summers can get very hot and humid.
