Paper quelling is very easy and simple art which can be learnt at any age. Now a day’s people are more curious about learning paper quelling. Let’s understand first what is paper quelling? Actually paper quelling is an art that is involved use of different color stripes of paper that are turned, shaped, pasted and made decorative/creative designs. You can use this art in creating greeting cards, decorative boxes, eggs, pictures, decorative frame, flower pots, jewelry etc. and many more. The most popular and simple technique is to roll the paper with fingers or by using different tools. These tools are not very expensive or the material required to make decorative things are not expensive available in the market. You just need a paper, few tools, colors and little creativity. You can create different shapes to make design.

If we want to make quilled paper flower then let’s check out; what all things are required and what steps we have to follow. We need a needle, various colored quilling stripes, adhesive etc.You can create shape which will be easy and look good. You can just choose the longer or shorter paper stripe which will decide the size of your flower. Generally the crafter makes the flower in different portions and later on attaches them or paste on the object.

1)Take a small stripe of paper cut it in ¼ inch wide. Use a cutting wheel, cutter with straight edge or cutting mat to get sharp cuts. If you want to make is short you can use precut strips.

2)Take a needle and press the paper point on the edge of the needle and roll upto certain inches.

3)Fix your thumbnail through the end of the paper softly and slowly curl the paper. Roll the paper on your forefinger and thumb and roll it at least 3-5 times and make sure to keep the paper tight touching the needle and slip the needle slightly out. That will give a curly look to your paper.

4)Press the start and end of the rolled paper composed with rolled tweezers held in other hand. Keep rolling the paper with other hand by tweezers every after a roll decide how much you want  to tight and make ittight and simply stick it with glue. Make sure you use white or transparent glue and drop a little glue at the end and beginning of the paper and slightly press.

5)You can choose the desired shape like round or oval or you can give any angle to rolled paper and press. It will automatically fix it to that shape. Make a flower petal shape at one end and loose roll to create a shape of teardrop. Keep certain space between two petals and stick it on the paper and stick the petals.

You can make a rose by using a red paper stripes, glue and needle. It will be more easy making separate petals and stick them on a paper. You can try doing both flowers and check which one you could do nicely.
