Secured Communication Lines: Key to Operational Efficiency

The world is interconnected in myriad senses and ways. Businesses can now excel only if they have the ability to function effectively and efficiently in a global environment. Organizations are now networked and function in a collaborative globalised ecosystem. A computer Network is a group of computers and associated devices connected to each other in order to provide communication, information sharing and resource sharing. Similarly, internet is a network of networks. A large amount of data and information is shared in various forms over the networks used in organizations (government and private), businesses and at homes.

This data and information shared has to be protected from a variety of threats. All the efficiency and effectiveness of the network can be hampered by a virus attack or a hacker. The network needs security against these attackers and hackers. Network Security implies two types of securities i.e. security of data information i.e. to protect the information from unauthorized access and loss. And the second is computer security i.e. to protect data and to discourage hackers.  Valuable and strategic information is shared over different networks in an organization. This information can be misused by attackers and has to be secured for reasons like to keep the access to the information to authorized people only, to prevent its tampering by unauthorized users, to protect delay/loss of information in the transmission lines/route etc. The second type of network security is Computer security. Itis required to protect computer systems from unwanted damages caused by malicious software like viruses and spywares that can wipe off all the information from the hard disk or sometimes cause hardware problems too. The network needs to be protected from such type of damaging software. The criminal minded people who intentionally put such software on the network are called Hackers. Computers are an integral part of the network, so the computer security from Hackers is also a part of network security. Computer security from Hackers is essential as computers should be protected from replicating and capturing viruses from infected files. They also need a protection from worms and bombs.
A virus called Trojan Horse is sufficient to destroy a computer and hence it has to be protected.

Cisco Systems, world leaders in providing end to end IT and networking solutions also offers best-in class network security solutions. Cisco Network security protects the networks of an organization against misuse and theft of valuable business information which often is confidential and protects the networks against malicious attacks from Internet-borne viruses and worms. Any organization making a use of networks shall have a proper network security system in place to avoid unauthorized intrusions, network downtime, service disruption, regulatory noncompliance and even legal action.

Cisco Network Security uses a set of defense mechanisms to protect a business such that even if one solution fails, others still stand, guarding the confidential information of business from a wide variety of network attacks. The security systems offered by Cisco protect businesses against internal and external network attacks. They ensure privacy of the network, at any place at any time. They control access to information by accurately identifying users and their systems. These network security solutions make the stakeholders confident that their information remains secure.

For all the organizations and businesses that conduct their activities over any type of a network, especially over the Internet, network security is of utmost importance and it pays off in multiple ways.
