She's no square! Olivia Palermo takes fashion risk and teams checkered peplum top with matching black shorts

Olivia Palermo certainly made a fashion statement on Tuesday.

The 28-year-old boldly teamed a white checkered peplum top with a matching pair of black shorts while running errands in New York City.

The City reality star looked every inch the native New Yorker as she confidently strolled through the streets of her hometown.

She kept the accessories to a minimum, and wore a golden bracelet with a matching choker necklace, while a pair of studded earrings added an elegant touch.

With her hair swept back into a chic updo, the lithe socialite accentuated her complexion with a dusting of blusher along with a slick of pink lipstick.

The fashion blogger kept it comfortable in a pair of floral loafers, and carried a black-and-white tote bag in one hand.

And while she may have taken a fashion risk with her checkered outfit, Olivia still made sure the street was clear before safely crossing to the other side.

Meanwhile for the fashionista, Olivia has recently teamed up with eyewear line Westward Leaning.

The company has created a collection of eight shades named after Olivia's favourite travel destinations, including Berlin, Palm Beach, and Dumbo.

Olivia has become a fashion icon due to her chic clothing choices.

'I think that it’s most important to feel comfortable and look relaxed. And always consider the lighting,' Olivia recently told Glamour magazine.

In addition to her professional pursuits, Olivia is currently engaged to German model Johannes Huebl, whom she has been in a relationship with since 2008.

'Friends set us up, and it just fell right into place. We're a great team,' Palermo said in Brides Magazine's June/July edition.
