Oil Burning and Oil Leaks: Get it sorted out!
This is one of the most common problems and one of the hardest to sort out. This problem can also bring a bit of an expense while detecting it and fixing it.
Oil burning and oil leaks are common on pick-up trucks that are a bit on the older side and they can be due to a vast array of stuff.
They are usually just a symptom of something, and it can be costly to get that major problem repaired. There's not much you can do other than to make sure you give your truck the proper maintenance its status deserves - if it's an older truck, get its maintenance to be done often.
The chassis gets full of rust:
Another common problem on trucks, as we know we put our trucks under a lot of stress. People who don't store their vehicles in a garage are even more prone to have this one happen.
To avoid this, make sure you clean and wash your truck often, and a good waxing session will do wonders from time to time.
Another thing to consider is applying a heavy and thick layer of paint-guard once the waxing is done. Waxing will erode your chassis while cleaning it and the paint-guard will take care of the erosion while preventing rust from settling in.
Problems with fuel lines and pipe sealing:
Sealing problems might also take a toll in your wallet if they are not properly detected. Imagine that your fuel line is faulty and that it takes you a while to realize that - you have just been fueling the ground and therefore spending money on refueling your machine much more often.
Make sure that you look to the ground after you leave a parking spot in order to watch for possible fuel, oil or water leaks.
Transmission gets the weight:
Pick-up trucks are heavy, and even more so when you make them carry additional stuff. This gets a lot of pressure on your transmission, and therefore problems with this component are also on our list of the most common pick-up truck problems.
Warning Lights are always on:
This is a common problem that must be on the list of the most annoying problems as well.
This is usually an electrical or computing problem, so your good old mechanic will just reset it.
Too much weight on the tow:
Who of us never tried to carry more than what the truck can handle? This is a problem people deserve to have since they are straining their vehicle just because they don't think about it on the first place.
Make sure you make the most out of your vehicle by keeping it properly maintained - take care of it.
