What is corporate philanthropy?

It the term referred to companies or corporate that has been is perusing the charitable donations of their resources and profits to any nonprofit organizations. In most of the cases, this type of philanthropy would involve donations of cash and in some cases, it can also be the facilities or the time dedicated volunteering time offered by the employees of a company. These donations are commonly handled by the organization or company directly or can also be by the foundations that the company has created for the same purpose.

As a corporate citizen, it the role of every company of a country to take the corporate responsibility and render support and help the country to develop in economical or development aspects. As per the survey results drawn from the interview with philanthropy executives, the report signifies that enhancing management practices of various giving programs by corporate and offers actionable practices and best quick tips for all practitioners.

Some of the highlights related to corporate responsibility of a company include:

• Enhanced interest towards philanthropy on global scale: more than 42% of respondents from corporate sector have been reported to be with the presence in international philanthropy. About 46% are with developing plans to refine and enhance their involvement on global scale.

• Significance of initiatives from employees: according to the reports, there is more than 90% volunteer programs by  giving departments and about 48% encouraged volunteerism via paid time off provided by the company to help them engage in any type of volunteer projects from their personal front or creating events that are coordinated voluntarily.

• Important emphasis on restructuring and strategy:  the giving departments of about 68% are revised with structure and strategy related to philanthropy significantly. Between the year 2001 till 2004 there are has been several developments taken forward in response to the strategies.

• Changing standpoint in regards to publicizing giving:  PR is used for about 71% by the giving departments as strategy with communications. About 35% has been considered with leveraged advertising or marketing to enhance the awareness and about 26% is issued upon annual reports of corporate responsibility or community relations.

• Reputation of signature companies: the giving departments for about 55% have been engaged with one or the other signature companies. Some of them would be associated with one while some would be associated with more than one Signature Company. Signature initiatives would be defined comprising central focus towards philanthropy by the company. All those companies that are not yet associated with any of the signature companies would be under planning to launch the similar type of programs in near future.

It is of prime importance for corporate companies to indulge itself in any of the philanthropy programs or support its employees to take part in such programs to help them attain the right of responsibility on corporate sector towards philanthropy.
