LCS has been translating websites from different fields. It can be product or services based. We see several articles, workshops and webinars on how to translate websites. We see that the focus is mostly on the technical part of translating a website: how to edit HTML files, use of key words and key phrases etc. to be used there. Although these are obviously very important aspects of translating a website, however creative writing is another very important factor to be taken into account. It is amazing to see your website rank number one in Google, but if the website itself puts off visitors because it is badly written, the whole effort in making and translating the website becomes pointless. It is important to keep in mind that, at the end, websites are written/translated not just for search engines but for human visitors. Therefore the first writing has to be good and then a good translation or transcreation can do the magic. Headings should really be treated as taglines and should also be transcreated rather than translated. This will make the headline original rather than a translation piece.
LCS as a translation company is precise and the translations offered influences the visitor, and we try to make translation easy to read and keep it as concise and precise as much possible. We follow consistency in our translations but since every language has its own style, it is best to discuss with the end client which style works best for their target audience. Just because the client prefers the formal language, that doesn’t automatically mean the style of the text has to be formal too. We discuss the translation style with our client and then just make sure to use the same style consistently throughout the whole website while translating.
