This week, Game Informer spoke with Wow game director Tom Chilton and asked him if Blizzard ever considered making World of Warcraft 2. “Definitely,” he said. “It’s something we have talked about. It’s something we have talked about for ten years.”
“I think there are a lot of challenges in the project, do they alongside each other, can one feed into the other?” Chilton acknowledged that there would be numerous hurdles to overcome for such a project, including potentially fragmenting the game’s massive player base.

World of Warcraft originally went on sale in November 2004, meaning the game celebrates its tenth birthday later this year. Though subscriber figures have fallen from a high of 12 million in 2010, Blizzard’s most recent count of 6.8 million playing $15/month is still the highest of any subscription based MMO out there.
Most wow players’ reaction:
1. From the business perspective, many players think it is part of trick that allowing the WoW subscriptions to have value in anything new. So if you are a WoW player even now WoW 2, you can play the new one with perhaps another $5 a month as long as you keep your existing WoW subscription, for it can bring benefits from the existing players.
2. In wow, there is a hard ceiling on the design space on character options which means the coolest stuff can happen through cut scenes and NPC’ s, so wow players would like that can be changed. They want to see development essentially more permission in low ceiling with creativity and imagination. May wow 2 can bridge over the gap.
