In this day and age where technology and modern communication is the everyday need, it is impossible to go without a phone – be it the basic phone or a smart phone! Everyone needs it while keeping in mind as to how much he/she can commit to its monthly expenses. Hence choosing the right mobile plan becomes really important. Currently, India has a large population of prepaid mobile service users, but we have witnessed an on-going change in this trend. The telecom operator generates 25 per cent revenue of the postpaid mobile services.“Existing prepaid mobile service customers are twice as likely to migrate to a postpaid connection, while those using existing Internet packs are four times more likely,” reports consultancy firm PwC in a report looking into the changing profiles of customers in India.
While the fact remains the same that people with lesser mobile usage should go for a prepaid connection as it becomes easier for him/her to monitor his expenses towards the mobile phone. The ease of tracking mobile usage and expenses, no overage charges, per minute charges are always the same, paying exactly for what you use, the freedom from contracts, no added fees, taxes or surcharges, and last but not the least, never to worry about a bill are some of the factors that lure the customer towards prepaid mobile services. There is no dearth of choices when it comes to prepaid mobile plans. The vendors are offering simple and flexible recharging method to users as per the users’ requirement. And, there is no limitation. One can even get a recharge done via net banking or online portals.
Now when it comes to postpaid mobile services, the trend changes and so do the users. For people who have a medium to high mobile phone usage, a postpaid connection definitely seems to be the way to go. There is no denying supporting postpaid mobile service for an active user. Now when we talk about an active user, we mean a person who uses his/her mobile for more than 30 minutes of outgoing calls every day. Higher minimum monthly rentals allow more freebies including free minutes, SMSes and other services. Postpaid users also have the choice of getting their own numbers. Additionally and unlike prepaid, outgoing won’t be barred once you reach a certain amount. Better data plans, network coverage and better choice of phones are some of the advantages that come with the postpaid mobile services and become the convenient options for the people who are not cost conscious mobile users.
