vTiger CRM 5.4 to vTiger CRM 6.0 Upgrade/Migration Tool
Long awaited vtiger CRM 5.40 Upgrade / Migration Tool for vtiger CRM 6.0 has been released . Since there is no stable or RC version of vtiger CRM 6.0 - this migration / upgrade tool only works with the beta version . According to the developers of CRM vtiger , this should not be used for production and is only for testing purposes , however , if you want to move quickly and can not wait / stable version RC - you should be able to update their vtiger CRM vtiger CRM 6.0 to 5.40 .
We've done some migrations now and seems to be working as expected. The / migration upgrade process is quick and easy to perform , however, if you do not feel comfortable doing so - please contact us for assistance .
First step and the most important is - backups.You have to have a backup of your existing database vtiger CRM and file structure. The way the migration / upgrade works is that it will overwrite existing files and update the database , so once again the backups are crucial and there is no way back from vtiger CRM 6.0 for vtiger CRM 5.4.
The second step is to download the vtiger CRM 6.0 Upgrade / Migration also . You can download it from here
Place the downloaded file in the directory and extract file vtigerCRM .
Once extracted , open your browser and go to http://www.yourvtiger.com/vtigercrm/migrate/index.php . (replace yourvtiger.com / vtigerCRM / with vtiger CRM directory / server).
You should already have taken backups , so go head and check " I have taken the backup of the database " and "I have taken the backup source ."
Enter your administrator password existing vtiger CRM.
Click " Start Migration"
Then a " Migration Assistant " , which will replace the files and run the necessary steps to update the database query will open. Assuming all went well - you will be able to click "Next" .
The last page will open confirming successful migration , then click "Finish" you will be redirected to your shiny new vtiger CRM 6 !
There is a possibility that you will encounter some problems doing the upgrade / migration to vtiger CRM 6.0. One of the possible errors are:
" Invalid credentials "
Make sure you have entered the CRM 5.4 vtiger existing credentials . You will not create a new user here .
" ERROR REMOVAL ZIP FILE MIGRATION "
The error is not very descriptive , but what that means is that you have to set your vtigerCRM folder to be writable by the web . To do this , you must set the appropriate permissions (chmod 755-777 ) and the user ( chown apache / www -data) .
" ERROR READING THE ZIP FILE MIGRATION "
Assuming you have appropriate permission - you should not run into this error , but if not - make sure the vtiger6.zip file in the / directory can be extracted vtigerCRM / Webuser access .
