Tim Pivarnik is an experienced and conversant educator who has been serving Gary Middle College at the post of Principal since 2013. He is dedicated to improving not only the achievements of his students, but also the schools where he is employed. He completed his B.S in Secondary Education in May 1997, and M.S in the same subject in December 2005. He did his bachelors and masters study from Indiana University NW that is situated in Gary, IN.
One Region/One Vision Meeting At Calumet High School:
Prior to working at Gary Middle College, Tim Pivarnik has also served Calumet High School from 2009 to 2012. During his employment at Calumet High School, he was greatly praised by the Secretary of Education “Arnie Duncan” during One Region/One Vision meeting. This gathering on September 8, 2011 was attended by more than 600 professional educationalists and business leaders in Northwest Indiana. Mr. Duncan highlighted the considerable changes made by Calumet High School in merely 2 ½ years under Tim's administration, therefore, leading the school off the State probation.
He was humbled as well as honored by the Secretary of Education as a successful turnaround principal of the school. Additionally, the Under Secretary of Education “Martha Kanter” also approved Calumet High School as an “Island of Excellence” in her speech on the same One Region/One Vision meeting as well as in the Times Newspaper article on 9th September 2014.
Tim Pivarnik's Responsibilities And Accomplishments as a Principal at Gary Middle College:
* Presently, he is aimed at transforming the college into a career readiness college or academy with the establishment of partnerships with Gary Area Career Center, Center of Workforce Innovations, Hammond Career Center, and Ivy Tech Community College.
* He helped establish a graduate learning laboratory for students who require 8 or less credits to become a graduate and an ECA remediation/prep that assisted thirteen students to successfully pass both the ECA's and obtaining a Core 40 diploma after formerly dropping out of high school with extensions of more than 20 Core-40 graduates in this year.
* He also conducted a review of all student transcripts and re-coordinated their schedules, placing them in their accurate level of classes.
