According to Smallbone, this model is an ideal demonstration of the concept of inside/outside living. Apart from Amdega, prominent garden designer Stephen Woodhams also played his part in designing the kitchen by implementing an architectural planting scheme inside and creating a fully furnished living room outside. In this kitchen design, the cabinets were skillfully crafted and the wood used was honey colored European oak. The cabinets also had silver finish handles and glowing steel, glass and granite accents. All this contributed to Smallbone, Amdega and Stephen Woodhams jointly winning 'Gold Standard for Excellence' award for Best Trade Stand at the Chelsea Flower Show from the Royal Horticultural Society.
The award winning Alfresco Kitchen design created by Smallbone has influenced people to consider the amalgamation of kitchen and garden designs in order to increase the living space in houses. It is already being considered as a modern day classic and has introduced a completely new trend in kitchen and garden designing. This type of design gives a feeling of being closer to nature and helps in giving home owners some amount of breathing space. Moreover, the interior of the house does not get too congested as space outside the house is properly utilized.
Smallbone can really be proud of the design they have created as it has not only won a gold award at such a prestigious event but has also transformed the way people look at their kitchen and garden designs. The Alfresco Kitchen design adds to the long list of awe inspiring kitchen models created by Smallbone.
