What do the RTOs in India do?
The Regional Transport Offices or RTO in India is located in all the states in the important districts. The officers employed in these offices are adequately trained and are responsible for the performing the following activities:
· Providing the learner’s license to a person driving his vehicle for the first time, provided all conditions are satisfied.
· Providing permanent license to the driver as and when he clears all the necessary tests and qualifications.
· Providing drivers of public transport vehicles (buses, auto rickshaws, taxis etc.) with necessary badges that qualify them to drive these vehicles.
· Providing certain drivers with permits that allow them to drive their vehicles in international locations.
· Providing vehicles with registration codes of the states in which they have been parked for more than a year, irrespective of the state in which these vehicles were registered.
· Completing all formalities that are necessary for registering a new motor vehicle.
· Providing permits for driving for stage carriages.
· Providing a fitness certificate to vehicles used for public and private transport, thereby deeming these vehicles fit for being driven on the roads and highways.
· Conducting rigorous inspection on vehicles that have been in use for more than 15 years and renewing their registration, wherever necessary.
· Proving the vehicles used for public and private transport with necessary transport, keeping a record of all the signed documents and managing these vehicles efficiently.
· Providing the vehicles that are in possession of national permit, with the necessary approvals and authorisations.
Chhattisgarh RTO
The RTO in Chhattisgarh state is spread across various locations in the state. As per latest information, there are around 22 Regional Transport Offices in the state of Chhattisgarh state in order to control the increasing number of vehicles on road. The main types of licenses granted by the RTO in Chhattisgarh are – Learner’s license, driving license and permanent license.
In addition to these, the Chhattisgarh RTOs are also involved in the following registration activities – registration of new vehicles, re-issue of registration when the applicant has changed his residential address, re-issue of registration when the applicant has transferred his ownership and registration in the case of dealer point networks. RTOs in Chhattisgarh are also involved in granting national and international permits for vehicles used for public and private transport.
New feature of RTO in Chhattisgarh
The Chhattisgarh RTO has launched a new system recently wherein candidates can book for online appointment for getting a learner’s license. Once they book for an appointment, they can get a receipt printed off from the system itself. The official portal of the transport office of Chhattisgarh also contains the helpline numbers and email id so that candidates are not left confused at any stage. The helpline numbers that candidates can reach out while booking for an appointment online to get their learner’s license are 09302987127 and 09302987106. Online forms available
The Chhattisgarh transport portal contains a list of forms that can be downloaded easily and submitted to the respective RTOs by the candidates. These forms are classified into broad headings of learner license, driving license, certificate of registration and permits. Physical fitness declaration, medical certificate declaration, new registration forms, change of address, change of ownership, forms for applying for permit in case of tourist vehicles and vehicles that already have national permits etc. are some of the forms that are available easily online to be downloaded.
