Smog is a mixture of smoke emitted vehicle mixed with atmospheric air. People in California are always having a craze for cars. 34 million residents nearly own 25 million cars and that makes California City as nation’s worst air quality. So 1976 California’s air resource board and California bureau of automotive repair organized a program to control this smog. The program is to reduce the pollution from the vehicles, so bureau of automotive posted guidelines that is ensure the vehicles with excessive emissions are to repaired and pass the test as per guidelines.  Vehicles should pay smog abatement fees for the 6 years to pass a smog check. When selling the vehicles with more than four years older much have the smog pass certificate.

DMV (Department of motor vehicles) send a renewal notice to vehicle owners if their vehicles needs smog test. Owner should test the vehicle within 90 days and produce the certificate to DMV, if the vehicle fails the test necessary repairs to be done and retest to be done, if the repairing cost higher than vehicles value, state department will buy the vehicle and scrap them. State department strict the rules, vehicles with no smog control certificates their registration will be cancelled and vehicles will be confiscated by state department. So all vehicle owner had their test done with certified smog centers and submitted to state bureau.

In Santa Clara smog check centers are opened in every auto workshops to certify the vehicles. Auto repair in SunnyvaleCa and Smog test San Jose also concentrated on controlling the smoke emission from the vehicles. All these centers to be certified by state department, only certified centers are allowed to test the vehicles and issue the certificate.

Since smog test is mandatory, there were test centers all over the California, and business challenges faced between centers and lots of discount offers are implemented to impress customers and many auto works are opened to repair the cars.
